Eula Opal Pitts Hicks, age 82, of Blue River, widow of Glen L. Hicks, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 4, 1930, at Dock (Prestonsburg), a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Roxie Mae Ousley Pitts. Eula was baptized at the Fitzpatrick First Baptist Church, in Prestonsburg, and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Prestonsburg DAV.
Eula is survived by a son, Larry A. Hicks, of Blue River; a daughter, Brenda (Darrell) Maynard, of Pikeville; two brothers, Forrest Pitts, of Raleigh, N.C., and Vertis Pitts, of David; a sister, Clara Burklo, of Hebron; five grandchildren, Brandon Hicks, Brooke Hicks, Ryan Maynard, Ricki Maynard and Randy Maynard; and three great grandchildren, Gracie Nelson, Cayleigh Boyd and Drake Hicks.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hicks; four brothers, Curtis, Adis, Manis and Dennis Pitts; three sisters, Dollie Branham, Lottie Crisp and Sadie Shepherd; and a special friend, Leonard Morrison.
Pallbearers: Roger Shepherd, Chris Shepherd, Brandon Hicks, Ryan Maynard, Randy Maynard, Brent Little.

Funeral service for Eula Opal Pitts Hicks were conducted Monday, Sept. 24, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Sam Crawford and Morgan Chapman officiating. Burial followed in the Pitts Family Cemetery, at Blue River, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
