HI HAT - South Floyd faced the tough task of competing against much-improved Morgan County Friday night at Raider Field. Determined Morgan County made the trip to southern Floyd County worth its while, blanking the Raiders 46-0 in a non-district contest.
The Morgan County defense managed to keep South Floyd standout running back Weston Little limited throughout the game.
Little entered the game as one of the state’s leading rushers.
Junior running back Kody Thornsberry paced Morgan County, rushing 11 times for 246 yards and four touchdowns.Morgan County moved out in front early and gradually pulled away for the non-district win. The Cougars set the tone early, outscoring South Floyd 24-0 in the opening quarter. Morgan County carried a commanding 38-0 lead into halftime.
With the win, undefeated Morgan County moved to 4-0.
South Floyd dropped to 2-2 after suffering the loss.
Morgan County has dominated multiple opponents this season. The Cougars have outscored opposing teams 228-42.
South Floyd will be back in action at home on Friday night, hosting non-district foe Shelby Valley. Kickoff for the South Floyd-Shelby Valley game is set for 7:30 p.m.
