MIDDLE CREEK — A local bridge near Prestonsburg will be reduced to one lane of traffic for nearly a month, as transportation crews perform restoration and waterproofing.
According to Kentucky Tranportation Cabinet officials, traffic will be reduced to one lane over Middle Creek Bridge on Route 404, just off Route 114 near the Middle Creek National Battlefield beginning Monday, Sept. 17, and continuing for about a month.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Joe Burchett Jr. of Bush & Burchett, said a temporary traffic signal will direct motorists during this time.
Officials say the lane closure is necessary for bridge deck restoration and waterproofing. Bush & Burchett was low bidder on the KYTC contract, in the amount of $155,479.
The completion date required is Nov. 15, or 30 calendar days. Burchett said his company expects to complete the work by mid-October.
