AUXIER — The Auxier Center invites everyone in the Big Sandy area to join in the fun for a free “Back-to-School Blowout Bash” on Friday, July 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Auxier Community Park.
Hand in Hand will be giving out free back-to-school supplies to every youth who attends. They encourage everyone to bring the family and enjoy the fun.
Allyson Williams, director of community relations, said, “We will have free food, ice cream, inflatables, games and music. We’ll be giving out free school supplies and will also have backpacks, binders, notebooks, and other school items that can be purchased at a very reduced cost.”
Andrew Kuchenbrod, summer intern from Morehead State University, said, “We aren’t trying to make money. We want to offer back-to-school items so that families can afford to get everything their children need and still meet their other financial obligations. All the proceeds will go towards community programs.”
“We have lots of school supplies ready to share and hope to see a lot of families come out,” Williams said. “It’s going to be fun.”
There will be a large bouncy house, obstacle course, several carnival type games, music and dance. The event is sponsored by The Center for Regional Engagement at Morehead State University, Pit Stop Barbeque and Wal-Mart of Paintsville.
The center, located in the old Auxier school building, 21 South River Street, in Auxier, has been serving Big Sandy since 2000.
