TOPMOST — A burned-out vehicle on an abandoned mine was the focal point of an investigation by Kentucky State Police over the weekend.
According to KSP officials, late Friday evening, Post 13 was contacted concerning a burned vehicle on an abandoned mine site near Mullins Branch Road at Topmost.
An early report from the scene indicate that suspected human remains had been found in the vehicle. KSP and Knott County sheriff’s deputies converged on the scene and confirmed the presence of suspected human remains found inside the remnants of the burnt vehicle.
No identity has been established at this time, but officials say there were two bodies found in the vehicle. They added that the bodies were burned beyond recognition.
The vehicle and remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination. The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
