PRESTONSBURG — A local couple pleaded guilty Monday to charges of possession of methamphetamine precursors and insurance fraud this week in Floyd Circuit Court.
Circuit Judge Johnny Ray Harris heard the pleas of the two, and set sentencing for later this year.
Toby, 35, and Tiffany Akers, 28, of Martin, both pleaded guilty to reduced charges of being in possession of methamphetamine precursors, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by deception, two counts of receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence, theft by unlawful taking, and insurance fraud. Toby Akers is also pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Though charged individually, both the Akers were represented by attorney Ned Pillersdorf.
Charges of manufacturing methamphetamine were reduced to possession of a precursors, and a charge of arson against the Akerses was dropped by Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office as part of the plea agreement.
The Akerses are next scheduled to be in court April 19 for sentencing. The Akerses are both being held in Floyd County Detention Center.
