MAYTOWN - An automobile accident Tuesday in Maytown has claimed the life of Milton D. Chaffins. According to Kentucky State Police, Chaffins, 40, was traveling north on Route 777 in Maytown when he lost control of his vehicle, ran off the the road and collided with a utility pole owned by American Electric Power. Chaffins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was the only occupant of the white Oldsmobile he was driving and there were no other vehicles involved. Chaffins was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Roger Nelson. The accident is still under investigation by Trooper Brad Hamilton of the KSP in Pikeville.
